Our Commitment

Becoming Her Counseling is committed to ensuring that our website is accessible to everyone — including people with disabilities. We believe that access to mental health resources should not be limited by barriers, digital or otherwise. This belief is core to who we are and the communities we serve.

We strive to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA. These guidelines explain how to make web content more accessible to people with disabilities.

Measures We Have Taken

We have implemented the following accessibility features across this website:

• Semantic HTML: Proper heading hierarchy (h1 → h2 → h3), landmark regions, and descriptive link text throughout
• Keyboard navigation: All interactive elements are reachable and operable by keyboard alone
• Focus indicators: Visible focus styles on all interactive elements for keyboard users
• Alt text: Descriptive alternative text on all meaningful images; decorative images are marked aria-hidden
• Color contrast: Text and interactive elements meet or exceed WCAG 2.1 AA contrast ratios (4.5:1 for normal text, 3:1 for large text)
• Responsive design: Content reflows correctly at 400% zoom without requiring horizontal scrolling
• Dark mode: A user-selectable dark mode reduces eye strain for users with light sensitivity
• ARIA labels: Complex interactive components (mobile menu, accordion FAQ, quiz, forms) include ARIA roles and labels
• Form accessibility: All form inputs have visible, associated labels; required fields are clearly marked
• No time limits: No content on this site expires or requires action within a time limit
• No seizure triggers: No content flashes more than three times per second
• Skip navigation: Keyboard users can navigate directly to main content (in progress)

Known Limitations

We are aware of the following areas where we continue to work toward full accessibility:

• Some older embedded content (including third-party widgets) may not fully meet our accessibility standards. We are actively reviewing and replacing these components.
• PDF documents linked from this site may not be fully accessible. Please contact us if you need an accessible version of any document.
• Our video content will include captions when published. The current video placeholder does not contain any content requiring captions.

Virtual Session Accessibility

Our therapy services are designed to be accessible to clients with a range of disabilities and access needs. Virtual sessions are available throughout Oklahoma and can accommodate many accessibility needs that in-person sessions cannot. If you have specific access needs for your therapy sessions — including but not limited to hearing loss, visual impairment, or mobility considerations — please discuss these with Jerrica during your free consultation. We are committed to finding arrangements that work for you.

This website relies on the following technologies for conformance with WCAG 2.1:

• CSS3 (including custom properties, logical properties, and prefers-reduced-motion support)
• Vanilla JavaScript with progressive enhancement

The website has been evaluated using automated tools including Lighthouse and axe DevTools, as well as manual keyboard navigation testing.
